Our range of pressure care mattresses is designed to keep users comfortable and help prevent and manage pressure injuries (bed sores) for people who spend long periods in bed. From alternating air mattresses and overlays through to hospital and medical foam mattresses, these products support skin health, comfort and recovery at home and in care settings — shipped right across New Zealand.
Pressure injuries develop when constant pressure restricts blood flow to the skin. The right mattress redistributes that pressure — either through air cells that alternate to relieve different areas, or through pressure-reducing foam — helping to protect at-risk skin.
Powered alternating pressure air mattresses use a pump to inflate and deflate air cells in cycles, continuously shifting pressure away from vulnerable areas. They are ideal for users at higher risk of pressure injuries or those already managing them. See our:
For everyday comfort and lower-risk pressure care, foam and hospital-grade mattresses provide firm, supportive pressure reduction without a pump. See our hospital bed mattress and pressure-reduction memory foam mattress.
The right mattress depends on the user’s level of pressure-injury risk, how much time they spend in bed, and their weight and mobility. Higher-risk users generally benefit from a powered alternating air mattress, while foam options suit lower-risk users and everyday comfort. We strongly recommend involving an occupational therapist or district nurse to assess pressure-injury risk and confirm the right product — or contact our team for guidance.
Pressure care mattresses may be funded for some users through ACC or Ministry of Health equipment funding (administered by Enable New Zealand or Accessable), usually following a clinical assessment. We can provide a detailed quote or invoice for you to submit to your funder. Please note we are not a registered supplier with these bodies — approval, eligibility and payment are determined by your funder, not by us. Contact our team for a quote.
Pressure care mattresses ship New Zealand-wide. For help choosing the right mattress, contact our team by phone or email — support is provided remotely; we do not have a physical outlet or on-site service in New Zealand.
What is an alternating pressure mattress?
It is a powered mattress with air cells that inflate and deflate in cycles, continuously shifting pressure away from any one area of the body to help prevent and manage pressure injuries (bed sores).
Who needs a pressure care mattress?
People who spend long periods in bed, have reduced mobility, or are at risk of (or already managing) pressure injuries. A clinical assessment helps determine the right level of support.
Air mattress or foam — which is better?
Powered alternating air mattresses suit higher-risk users; pressure-reducing foam suits lower-risk users and everyday comfort. An OT or nurse can advise based on the user’s risk level.
Can I get funding for a pressure care mattress?
Some users may receive funding through ACC or Ministry of Health (via Enable New Zealand or Accessable) after a clinical assessment. We can provide a quote for your funder.
