Our range of paediatric wheelchairs in New Zealand is designed to support children with additional mobility and postural needs — comfortably, safely and with room to grow. From lightweight children’s wheelchairs to reclining, tilt-in-space chairs and supportive special needs strollers, each option is built around comfort, posture and practicality for the child, and ease of use for parents and carers. Everything ships NZ-wide with free delivery and a 12-month warranty.
Our children’s mobility range includes the reclining tilt-in-space child wheelchair stroller, the reclining paediatric wheelchair, and the ultralight paediatric wheelchair — each suited to different needs, from full postural support to a lighter self-propel chair.
The right chair depends on your child’s needs — how much postural support they require, whether they’ll self-propel or be pushed by a carer, and where it will be used. Reclining and tilt-in-space seating helps with comfort, rest and posture through the day, while lightweight frames make transport and daily life easier. Because every child is different, we recommend involving your child’s occupational therapist or physiotherapist in the decision, and our team is always happy to help.
Paediatric mobility equipment may be funded for eligible children through Ministry of Health equipment funding via Enable New Zealand or Accessable, or through ACC for injury-related needs, usually after an assessment. We can provide a quote and specifications to submit to your funder. Please note Gilani Mobility is not a registered supplier under these schemes, so approval and eligibility are decided by your funder.
A paediatric wheelchair is a wheelchair designed specifically for children, with smaller dimensions, supportive seating and adjustable features to suit a growing child. Options range from lightweight self-propel chairs to reclining, tilt-in-space chairs and carer-pushed special needs strollers.
A child wheelchair is designed to be used and often self-propelled by the child, while a special needs stroller is pushed by a carer and focuses on postural support and comfort. Our child wheelchair stroller combines supportive seating with easy pushability for everyday outings.
Tilt-in-space means the whole seat tilts backwards as one unit without changing the child’s seated angle. This redistributes pressure, aids comfort and rest, and supports posture and head position through the day — helpful for children who spend longer periods seated.
Reclining and tilt-in-space paediatric chairs are commonly used for children with cerebral palsy and other conditions where posture and support matter. We recommend your child’s occupational therapist or physiotherapist helps confirm the right chair and supports for their specific needs.
